Introduction
My career in floristry began in 1995 when I started working for a small
independent florist. After six months I realised how much I enjoyed floristry
and was encouraged by my manager to go to college to gain a qualification.
I became fully qualified in 1998. It was at this point that I decided
I wanted to move away from your typical day to day floristry and continue my career in London. I was taken on as a member
of the floristry team at the BBC Television Centre. This was a great opportunity
for me and with this I became more confident and pleased with the work I
was producing.
After
two years with the BBC I moved on to the city, and spent two years doing
traditional floristry for banks, offices and shops.
In 2001 I was ready for a new challenge. I joined a new business called
In Water, based in London. At the time, this was the most contemporary
florist to work for and is currently one of the top florists in London.
After three years I became the senior florist. In Water was another great
opportunity for me, as my work was displayed in top establishments
such as the Ivy restaurant and the Tate Modern.
I established Designer Flowers in 2005 and after five busy years of trading we are now have a new studio. This allows us to concentrate on weddings and events without the day to day interruptions of a shop. I have worked with a large number of venues, and have become the recommended supplier for many of them. I have built up a good reputation and have received a lot of positive feedback from my clients. I only buy in the flowers needed for your wedding or event allowing me to keep the costs low as possible. I stock a wide range of vases, urns, pedestals and candelabras and add new lines of vases every year. So please feel free to pop in for inspiration and new ideas.
